Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gavir has threatened to hunt down and kill Palestinian Authority (PA) officials if the UN moves to recognize a Palestinian state. Speaking at a meeting of the Otzma Yehudit party on Monday (November 17), Ben-Gavir called top PA officials “terrorists.”
\nThe Jerusalem Post reported, citing Ben-Gavir’s threat, that “if they accelerate the process of recognizing a Palestinian terrorist state and the UN recognizes a Palestinian state, then senior Palestinian Authority officials should be ordered to be selectively killed. Because they are terrorists in every way.”
\nMeanwhile, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry and the President’s Office issued separate statements strongly condemning Ben-Gavir’s comments. In a post on social media, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that such comments by Israeli officials are a systematic provocation. The ministry called on the international community to take effective measures to hold Ben-Gavir accountable for such comments.
\nThe Palestinian presidential office said that the Israeli government must take responsibility for Ben-Gavir’s comments.
