The International Crimes Tribunal has sentenced ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death in a case of crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising. Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has demanded that she be brought back to Bangladesh within the next month so that the verdict can be executed.
\nHe made this demand at a press conference on Monday (November 17) afternoon after the verdict was announced. He welcomed and congratulated all the participants in the July uprising. Nahid Islam said that this is an important verdict in the judicial history of the country. NCP welcomes Sheikh Hasina’s death sentence for crimes against humanity, but they will not be satisfied if the verdict is not implemented. If the verdict is implemented, peace will come to the families of the injured and martyrs in July.
\nWe welcome the verdict. This will become history. Sheikh Hasina should be brought back to Bangladesh from Delhi immediately. The Security Advisor is visiting India. I hope he will also return to the country with Sheikh Hasina.’ He also said that Sheikh Hasina should be brought back to Bangladesh within the next month and the verdict should be executed. This will be a shining example worldwide. According to Nahid Islam, all political parties, families of the injured and martyred and the July warriors have contributed to this historic verdict. However, the trial of the Awami League must also be ensured as a party. The party’s judicial verdict on crimes against humanity will be implemented on the soil of the country, God willing.
