Directing the District Administrators to discharge their duties with 100% honesty, impartiality and dedication in the upcoming elections and referendum, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus said that this election is not a traditional election; rather, it is an election to save the country. Today, Monday (November 17), Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus addressed the administrators of 64 districts, including 50 newly appointed District Administrators, at the Chief Advisor\u2019s office.
\nThe upcoming election is not just an election to form a five-year government; rather, it is going to be a more important election because it includes a referendum, the Chief Advisor said, adding that this is a completely different election. The nation has seen many farce elections and we have to play our role to erase that memory.
\nStating that the role of District Administrators is very important in this election, he said that there is no possibility of failure in any way. The nation will be reborn through this election and the District Administrators will play the role of midwives.
\n\u201cYou will learn what you need to know,\u201d the chief advisor told the district administrators. \u201cThe elections should be both festive and peaceful,\u201d he said. \u201cIt should be remembered that there are a large number of young and female voters who are eligible to vote but have not been able to exercise their franchise for the last 15 years.\u201d
\n\u201cInternational observers are already showing great enthusiasm for the upcoming elections. They want to see how the elections are going.\u201d \u201cIt is our commitment to the people\u2019s uprising to make these elections meaningful,\u201d the chief advisor said. \u201cThis election is a big campaign, we have to win this campaign,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have to win this fight if we are to survive as an independent nation.\u201d
\nThe meeting, moderated by Cabinet Division Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid, was also attended by Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan and Law Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul.
