The oath-taking ceremony of 21 judges appointed as permanent judges in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court has been held. Today, Wednesday (November 12), at 1:30 pm, Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed administered their oath at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court. On the instructions of the Registrar General of the Supreme Court, Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui, the judges of the High Court and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court were present at the time.
\nThe government had appointed 23 people as additional judges of the High Court on October 9, 2024. This time, 22 of them have been made permanent. However, Justice Syed Enayet Hossain could not take the oath today due to illness. He will take the oath after recovering.
\nA notification in this regard was issued by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Tuesday (November 11) night. However, Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury, son of BNP leader Nitai Roy Chowdhury, has been excluded from the permanent list this time. The notification states that he will be made a permanent judge when he turns 45. The judges who have been permanently appointed are – Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, Syed Enayet Hossain, Md. Mansur Alam, Syed Zahed Mansur, KM Rasheduzzaman Raja, Md. Jabid Hossain, Mubina Asaf, Kazi Waliul Islam, Ainun Nahar Siddika, Md. Abdul Mannan, Tamanna Rahman Khalidi, Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud, Md. Hamidur Rahman, Nasrin Akhter, Sathika Hossain, Syed Mohammad Tajrul Hossain, Md. Toufiq Inam, Yusuf Abdullah Sumon, Sheikh Tahsin Ali, Faiz Ahmed, Md. Sagir Hossain and Sikder Mahmudur Razi. The notification states that the President has made these appointments in consultation with the Chief Justice in accordance with Article 95 of the Constitution.
