Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that no election will be held in 2026 without the legal basis of the July Charter. A rally of eight parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, began in Paltan at 2 pm today, Tuesday (November 11), demanding the implementation of the July Charter and holding a national referendum on that order. The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer said this at the rally.
\nThe rally began with the recitation of the Quran. Party leaders and activists have been coming from different parts of Dhaka since morning to join the rally. The entire area has now turned into a sea of \u200b\u200bpeople with slogans, banners and flags.
\nThe eight parties that joined the rally are Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan, Bangladesh Nejame Islam Party, Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA) and Bangladesh Unnayan Dal (BDP).
\nShafiqur Rahman said that there will be no elections in 2026 for those who do not accept the July Revolution. To see the 2026 elections, the July Revolution must first be recognized. He said that to recognize the July Revolution, the July Charter must be given a legal basis. Without this legal basis, there is no possibility of any elections.
\nShafiqur Rahman said that the independence-seeking people of the country have only one thing in their minds – a referendum must be held before the national elections. All parties agree on the referendum. So why this bargaining over the date?
\nHe also raised the issue of the consensus commission discussion. The leader said that all parties have agreed and signed, so it is reasonable to hold the vote first. Through this, a legal basis will be created, God willing, and the next national elections will be held on this basis.
\nHe said that when those elections are held, there will be no more doubts. We want the national elections to be held before Ramadan next February. No one should try to create a haze about this. Do not blame the poor.
