The dengue situation in the coastal Mohipur police station area of \u200b\u200bPatuakhali has taken a terrible turn. Two more people have died in the last 24 hours. This week, the death toll from dengue in the Mohipur police station area has increased to eight and the number of infected people has crossed the hundred mark.
\nYesterday, Monday (November 10), around 10 pm, a well-known tailor from Mohipur, Mr. Shishir Das, and a pharmacy businessman from Alipur Kalachapara area, Ubacho Rakhine, died while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal. The matter was confirmed by the acting chairman of Latachanpali Union Parishad, Mizanur Rahman Howlader.
\nAccording to local sources, earlier, Nurjamal Fakir from Khajura area and Habib from Mishripara area died of dengue while undergoing treatment in Dhaka. In addition, on October 13, four more people died of dengue in Mohipur, one of whom was a pregnant woman. She died shortly after giving birth. The incident has cast a shadow of deep grief and concern over the entire area.
\nKalapara Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Shankar Prasad Adhikari said, “Dengue infection is increasing every day in the Mahipur area. We are conducting awareness campaigns, miking and cleanliness activities at the union level. Still, the locals’ concerns are not abating. Currently, at least fifty people from Mahipur, Alipur and surrounding areas are admitted to the Kalapara Upazila Health Complex and Barisal Medical. Three people from a family from Alipur have been admitted to a hospital in Dhaka at the same time. The condition of one of them is critical.”
\nKalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kawsar Hamid said, “Regular fogging is being carried out to control dengue. In addition, instructions have been given to the chairmen of the union parishads to keep every house and the surrounding environment clean. The administration is taking utmost precautions to prevent dengue infection. The repeated deaths in the same area have spread panic among the common people of the coast.
