As a pre-announced program, eight parties participating in the movement will hold a mass rally in Paltan in the capital today at noon. Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad has expressed hope that not thousands, but millions of people will gather for this program. The leaders of the eight parties held a meeting at the Islami Andolan Bangladesh office in Paltan in the capital on Monday (November 10). The Jamaat leader made this announcement at a press conference after the meeting.
\nHamidur Rahman Azad said, “Tomorrow, not thousands, but millions of people will gather. People will be in large numbers, that is our expectation. People from the capital and its surroundings will join it.” He added, “We could have called for a nationwide rally. However, tomorrow, the rally will be with only the manpower from the capital and its surroundings. If the government understands this, then I hope a big opinion will come out of this rally.”
\nHe said, “The fourth phase of our movement has ended and the fifth phase is underway. We submitted the memorandum on the 6th. At the same time, we have announced a mass meeting on November 11. We are agitating for some basic demands of the people. This is not an alliance, this is a platform for a movement.”
\nRegarding the talks with BNP, he said, “They have said that they will not respond to Jamaat’s call. They have said it publicly. We have also said it publicly that if they call us, we will definitely respond. We will continue both the talks and the movement.” Hamidur Rahman Azad said, “We are always trying to avoid the suffering of the people. This is an ongoing program of the movement. We have considered the suffering. The time of our program is from 2 pm to 4 pm.”
\nIn response to the question whether the consensus commission’s discussions failed, he said, ‘The discussions did not fail. A charter was prepared and signed through discussions. The crisis is not about the charter, but the charter was prepared about the method of implementation.’
\nHe also said, ‘The referendum was in the constitution, but the fascists have omitted it. Those who say that there is no referendum in the constitution are supporting the work of the fascists. The constitution says that elections should be held after 5 years. So, according to the constitution, are elections supposed to be held in 2026? The current government has also not got power according to the constitution.’<\/p>\n
