The interim government has called on political parties to quickly resolve the issues on which they could not agree on the referendum and July Charter and inform the government. Highlighting this issue, Jamaat Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher asked that Jamaat is also willing to sit in talks if it responds to the call of the chief advisor on the implementation of the July Charter.
\nHe also raised the question that if the Advisory Council does nothing and leaves the responsibility to the political parties, then who will act as a referee? Eight like-minded parties, which are agitating with Jamaat on various demands, including the proportional representation (PR) system in the upper house of the National Assembly, made these remarks at a joint press conference on Monday (November 3) afternoon.
\nSyed Abdullah Md. Taher said that the eight parties, the people and the government are in agreement on the issue of PR in the upper house of the National Assembly. This demand will not be fulfilled if the July Charter is not implemented. He further alleged that each BNP leader is spreading confusion by making different statements. He said that if the referendum is held on the day of the national election, then there will be no evaluation of the referendum. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher further claimed that Jamaat is not forming any political alliance around the election.
