\nThe government’s firm determination to hold the next parliamentary elections in the first half of February 2026 has been reiterated. An emergency meeting of the Advisory Council was held to discuss the July Charter prepared by the National Consensus Commission and issues related to its implementation. It was presided over by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The meeting was held at the office of the Chief Advisor in Tejgaon, the capital, today, Monday (November 3).
\nThe gathering thanked the Consensus Commission and the political parties for their efforts to establish consensus on reforms and for establishing consensus on many issues. The meeting of the Advisory Council discussed the finalization of the July National Charter (Constitutional Reform) Order proposed by the National Consensus Commission, the organization of the referendum and the content of the referendum mentioned therein. It was observed that despite lengthy discussions in the Consensus Commission, there are differences of opinion on some of the reform recommendations. In addition, the meeting expressed concern over the differences of opinion that have arisen among the political parties on the question of when the referendum will be held and what its content will be.
