The average per capita income of the country’s people is $2,820. However, the per capita income of those living in Dhaka is 5,163 (6 lakh 24 thousand 723 taka, 121 taka in dollars). This information has emerged from the Economic Condition Index of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
\nThe business organization presented this information at a program organized at its office in Motijheel, the capital, on Saturday (October 25). The survey revealed that Dhaka contributes 46 percent to the GDP. 40 percent of the total employment is in the capital. More than 11 percent of the country’s total population lives in Dhaka. Which is the highest in Asia.
\nIt also revealed that 40 percent of the total exports come from Dhaka. 365 companies control 56 percent of the total manufacturing sector. The service sector is occupied by 289 companies.
