Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman said, if Sheikh Hasina and the accused involved in the genocide are not tried, then injustice will be done to the martyrs of July and the injured. He said this on Thursday (October 23) on the last day of presenting arguments against Sheikh Hasina and 3 others in the crimes against humanity case.
\nThe Attorney General said \u2013 I believed that Sheikh Hasina would face justice. Because she told others that if you have courage, then you will face justice. But she did not say this from her heart. If she had said this, then she would have come to the country today and faced justice.
\nMd. Asaduzzaman also said, if these accused are not punished, then the lives of countless more people in Bangladesh will be endangered. If justice is not ensured, then the people of Bangladesh will remain cowards in the dustbin of history. I hope for the highest punishment for them.
\nAfter her statement, the tribunal said, justice will be ensured. Both sides will get justice at any cost. Right now, the state’s final day of arguments against Sheikh Hasina and 3 others is underway. After that, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 will set a date for the verdict.
\nEarlier, 54 people, including the families of martyrs, injured and doctors, have testified in the case against Sheikh Hasina. The testimonies revealed various issues including the July massacre, atrocities and various tortures including disappearances and murders during the Awami League era.
\nDuring the July-August massacre, IGP of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun testified as a royal witness in this case. He also revealed the events behind the massacre. The names of those who gave the order and those responsible for its implementation have emerged.
