A plane skidded off the runway at St. Petersburg’s main airport due to a landing gear failure during an emergency landing, Russian state media reported, citing Reuters. The Airbus A320 skidded off the runway early Monday (October 20). All 162 passengers and crew on board were unharmed.
\nThe plane was heading to the Azerbaijani capital Baku. Pulkovo Airport, one of Russia’s busiest, briefly suspended flights before resuming operations on Monday morning.
\nRIA did not specify which airline was operating the flight.
\nThe issue of aviation safety has been a hot topic in recent years due to fierce competition between French Airbus and US rival Boeing.
