A cargo plane skidded off the runway at Hong Kong International Airport and fell into the sea, killing two people, the airport authorities have confirmed.
\nThe plane, which had departed from Dubai, was landing at Hong Kong International Airport at 3:50am on Monday (October 20) when the incident occurred, Hong Kong Airport Authority said.
\nAccording to BBC sources, Emirates flight EK9788, a Boeing 747-481 owned by Turkish cargo airline Air Act, was originally a passenger plane that had been converted into a freighter. It is more than 30 years old. The plane first flew in 1993.
\nLocal media reported that two people in an airport car that crashed into the sea after colliding with the plane died.
\nThe plane’s four crew members survived and were hospitalized.
