Marufa can be called the new sensation of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team. This time, she has shown great surprise with the ball in the Women’s World Cup cricket. She is none other than Tigress daughter Marufa Akhtar.
\nRecently, the Bangladesh women’s team’s pacer Marufa has been in great shape. She is in the news for her excellent bowling in the Women’s One-Day World Cup. However, Marufa’s rise as a cricketer is different from the other ten. At one time, she used to help her father with farming. That Marufa is now a well-known face in the cricket world. Even pacers like the legendary Lasith Malinga have praised her bowling videos. However, she had to go through many ups and downs in her life to reach this place.
\nBangladesh women’s team cricketer Marufa told the ICC the story of how much she struggled to come to cricket. She said that once upon a time, people in the village did not look at them with much respect. Even during Eid, Marufa had to spend Eid in old clothes without new clothes.
\nIn the ICC documentary before the New Zealand match, Marufa can be heard saying, ‘Weren’t there different invitations? They wouldn’t invite us to these places, saying they didn’t have clothes (crying). There was a time when we couldn’t even buy new clothes for Eid… (crying).’
\nMarufa also said, ‘My father is a farmer. We didn’t have that much money. The village where I grew up wasn’t very supportive either.’
\nHowever, Marufa’s days have changed. The pacer from Rangpur division is now established. He is also making a big contribution to his family, which gives Marufa satisfaction.
\nAccording to the Tigress pacer, ‘Actually, the situation we are in now is not like others. The way I support my family, many boys may not be able to do the same.’ It gives a different kind of peace.
