At least 18 people were killed after a passenger bus was crushed by a landslide in Himachal Pradesh, India. The accident occurred on Tuesday (October 7) night local time in Bhalughat in Bilaspur district of the state. The bus carrying about 30-35 passengers was going from Haryana to Ghumarwin near Bilaspur when a hill collapsed due to heavy rains, covering the entire bus.
\nMany people lost their lives instantly. Later, the injured were rescued and taken to the hospital. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the National Relief Fund and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
\nA statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said, “I am saddened to hear about the loss of lives in the accident in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
