A mother fled after giving birth naturally on the footpath of Ullapara Municipality in Sirajganj.
\nThe incident took place in the municipality on Tuesday night (October 7). Nurses from the local Care Hospital are currently taking care of the newborn.
\nLocals said that the woman who gave birth to the child is believed to be mentally unstable.
\nUllapara Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Nilufa Yasmin said, “I came to know about the matter on WhatsApp around 2 am. With the help of locals, the mother and the newborn were taken to the hospital. Later, it was found that the mother had fled.”
\nShe said that the newborn is currently healthy and many people have been expressing interest in adopting the child since morning.
\nNilufa Yasmin further said, “We have spoken to the UNO sir. After verification, the child will be handed over to a responsible and loving guardian. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat said, “We are seriously discussing the matter.
