176 Bangladeshis have returned from their detention in Libya. They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Thursday (September 18) morning. They were repatriated from the Tajura Detention Center (ATC) in the Libyan capital Tripoli with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
\nA government official said that they were repatriated from Libya with the assistance of the IOM last Wednesday. They arrived in the country this morning on Libyan Burak Airlines flight UZ-222.
\nEarlier, the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli had said that the Bangladesh Embassy is working closely with the local authorities and the IOM for the safe repatriation of Bangladeshi citizens detained in various places in Libya. In continuation of this process, 176 Bangladeshis have been repatriated from the Tajura Detention Center in Tripoli with the assistance of the IOM. The repatriates were scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today, September 18 at 8:00 AM via Libyan Burak Airlines UZ-222.
\nAn embassy delegation led by Ambassador Major General Abul Hasnat Muhammad Khairul Bashal saw off the repatriates at the reception center of the Libyan Immigration Department.
\nThe Ambassador highlighted various negative aspects of illegal immigration and urged caution in the future. He said illegal immigration not only causes financial and physical harm to individuals but also causes suffering to families and society.
