Jatiya Party (JP) Co-Chairman Mostafizur Rahman’s statement on nominating clean image candidates of Awami League is his own, said party Secretary General Shamim Haider Patwary. He said this in response to questions from journalists after a discussion meeting and Milad Mahfil on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi in front of the JP central office in Kakrail in the capital on Saturday (September 6) afternoon. The JP Secretary General said that Jatiya Party Co-Chairman Mostafizur Rahman’s statement on nominating clean image candidates of Awami League is his own. The party has not taken any such decision yet. Commenting on the country’s unpreparedness for the elections, he said, Bangladesh is not on the path of elections. It is on the path of the people. Since the people are unable to control them, it is understood that this government is not ready for the elections. Shamim Haider Patwary said that the demand to ban Jatiya Party is mainly to disrupt the elections. The Jatiya Party office was attacked by creating a mob. He said, “We did not set fire to anyone’s party office. We did not attack. But we were attacked 6 to 7 times. We were set on fire 3 times.” Commenting that the Gana Odhikar Parishad cannot avoid responsibility, Shamim Haider Patwary said, “They are the ones who set fire to the Jatiya Party office. The Gana Odhikar Parishad has brought an agenda. Their apolitical agenda will not be implemented.” Calling for the cancellation of the registration of the Gana Odhikar Parishad, he said, “Even after such visible terrorist activities of the Gana Odhikar Parishad, they have no chance of remaining registered.” He further said, “We want to see visible justice for the criminals due to the arson and attack on the Jatiya Party office. If the government cannot ensure this justice, then Dhaka along with all the leaders and activists of the country will come to a standstill.” “We want justice. We are thinking of filing a case. The more we break down, the more we will come forward in a bigger way,” added the JPA Secretary General. Earlier in the afternoon, after the Rangpur divisional representative meeting at the party office organized by the metropolitan and district branches, Jatiya Party co-chairman and former mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa said that there is no objection to voting for JPA, which supports the Awami League with a clean image without any cases.
