The miscreants broke into the bank’s vault by breaking the window grille of the Islami Bank Agent Banking Branch at Garaganj Bus Stand in Shailkupa Upazila of Jhenaidah and stole Tk 1,25,759. At that time, they took the CCTV hard disks. The authorities came to know about the theft by entering the bank on Thursday (August 28) morning. It is believed that the theft had taken place sometime on Wednesday night. Police and locals said that the Islami Bank Agent Banking Branch is located on the 2nd floor of the market next to the Garaganj Bus Stand Mosque. Last night, the thieves used a ladder at the back of the building to break into the bank’s window grille. They broke into the vault and took Tk 1,25,759 in cash and a CCTV camera device. When the bank opened in the morning, the employees saw the matter and informed the police. Officer-in-charge Masum Khan said, “We have received a report of a theft.” The bank vault was broken and money was taken. The CCTV hard disk was also taken.
