Three members of the same family from Gurudaspur, Natore, who were in an autorickshaw were killed when a covered van hit them in the Naojor area of Gazipur. The accident occurred around 10 am on Tuesday (August 19). The deceased were Anwar Hossain (33), son of Khalil Hossain of Mukimpur village in Gurudaspur upazila of Natore, his wife Ankhi Akhter (26) and their two-year-old daughter Anni Khatun. The deceased’s uncle Meher Ali said that his nephew Anwar Hossain used to work at RFL Company in Mymensingh. He and his wife and children had left Mymensingh for Gazipur in an autorickshaw in the morning to go to their in-laws’ house in Ashulia, Dhaka. At around 10 am, when the autorickshaw reached the north of the Riaz Filling Station in the Naojor area of Basan police station in Gazipur, the rear wheel of the autorickshaw came off and lost control and collided with a covered van. Child Anni was killed on the spot. Anwar and Ankhi Akhter were rescued and taken to Gazipur Sadar Hospital, but both of them died on the way. Basan police station sub-inspector Sanwar Hossain said that the autorickshaw and covered van involved in the accident are in the custody of Basan police station.
