The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Rashedul Kawsar Bhuiyan (Jiban), the assistant private secretary (APS) of former law minister Advocate Anisul Haque and former chairman of Kasba Upazila, on charges of acquiring illegal assets worth around 250 million taka. At the same time, a notice has been issued against his wife to submit a statement of assets after finding evidence of illegal assets.
\nToday, Wednesday (August 20), the agency’s deputy director Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter at the ACC head office.
\nAccording to the case file, Rashedul Kawsar was working as the APS of the law minister from January 22, 2014 to February 12, 2019. After that, he was relieved of that post and elected chairman unopposed in the Kasba Upazila Parishad elections in 2019.
\nACC investigation found that his immovable assets amount to 2 crore 61 lakh 59 thousand 333 taka and movable assets amount to 52 lakh 58 thousand 526 taka. In total, evidence of assets worth 3 crore 14 lakh 17 thousand 859 taka has been found in his name. Against which, only 83 lakh 20 thousand 106 taka has been found as legitimate sources of income. He has acquired 2 crore 30 lakh 97 thousand 753 taka in known undeclared assets.
\nA case has been filed against him under Section 27(1) of the ACC Act, 2004 and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
\nOn the other hand, the ACC has received information about huge assets and bank account transactions in the name and anonymity of his wife Lutfun Nahar. An order has been issued to him to submit an asset statement under Section 26(1) of the ACC Act, 2004 to verify whether these funds have been invested, transferred, transferred or converted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
