The July National Charter has 84 points. BNP agrees on some points, while some points were not presented correctly, believes BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed. He made these comments while talking to reporters at his Gulshan residence on Tuesday (August 19). Salahuddin said that it is now important to consider how the 84 points raised in the July Charter on which all political parties have agreed will be implemented, how the issues on which notes of dissent have been received will be resolved, and how the issues related to constitutional reform will be implemented. BNP will review all these and give its opinion to the commission. Mentioning that the July Charter mentioned constitutional amendments, he further said that there are many issues on which various political parties have given notes of dissent. Many of them can be implemented through executive orders of the government, including ordinances. However, the next parliament was supposed to make a commitment to implement the constitutional amendments and all the agreed issues within two years of their term. However, the senior BNP leader said that several points, including the legal basis of the July Charter, were added to the pledge in the second round of discussions. He also commented that these issues need to be discussed and there is no scope for giving the July Charter a place above the constitution. Salahuddin Ahmed said that although the previous charter stated that the elected parliament would implement the July Charter within the next two years, the new charter does not. In addition, in the context of the second round of discussions, the charter has been placed above the constitution in the pledge. However, no document can be above the constitution. If the charter is placed above the constitution, it will set a bad precedent for the future. It has been said that the July Charter cannot be questioned, which is also not correct.
