The purpose of those who want to give the legal basis of the July Charter through the elected government is not good, said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher. He made this comment at a protest rally organized in Bijoynagar in the capital on Wednesday (August 13) afternoon demanding seven points, including the completion of the next national election through the legal basis of the July Charter and the declaration. Md. Taher said, \u2018Most parties have given their opinions, dissenting opinions, and notes regarding the July Declaration. Even after there is consensus on everything, one party is saying that it has no legal basis. So does this declaration have a legal basis? The government is admitting it verbally, but if it does not implement it accordingly, then is there faith?\u2019 Alleging that those who create smoke screens regarding reforms are delaying the elections, he said, \u2018Concluding a fair election is the basic responsibility of the chief advisor and the main demand of the people. The July Declaration and the July Charter must be given a legal basis. Then, in light of this, the next national elections must be organized.\u2019 The Jamaat Nayeb Amir also said, \u2018The first reform this government needed was in the chair where the ministers and deputy ministers sit. In 54 years, the people of the country have not had a fair election. We want elections, not selection. An attempt is being made to take away the people\u2019s right to vote again.\u2019 Jamaat Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said, \u2018If you do anything against the people\u2019s opinion, the people will not accept it.
