Former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari recently warned of war against India over the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. And BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty has reacted strongly to Bilawal’s comments. Responding to a question from reporters, Mithun said, ‘I have nothing against the common people of Pakistan. They are good people. They do not want war. But if he (Bilawal Bhutto) keeps making such comments and we get angry, then another Brahmos (missile) will fly there.’ He also said, ‘And if not, we have also thought of building a dam where 1.4 billion people of India will urinate. After that, we will open the dam and a tsunami will occur.’ Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir recently threatened India with a new nuclear attack. A day later, Bilawal Bhutto threatened another round of war against India. Speaking at a function organised by the Sindh government’s cultural department, Bilawal Bhutto claimed that stopping the Indus River water from flowing to Pakistan would be an attack on the country’s history, culture and civilisation. India suspended the 1960 Indus Treaty after 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22. The country’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently announced that India will not revive the historic treaty. Bilawal alleged that when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Indus River project, it would be tantamount to cutting off Pakistan’s water supply. He claimed that he had raised the issue during his foreign tour to highlight India’s aggressive water policy. According to him, this ‘water aggression’ was ‘a response to India’s disaster in a military conflict’ in May this year. Bilawal added that whenever the Indus River was under threat, the people of Sindh came forward to protect it.
