A gunman killed three people in a Target store parking lot in Texas, Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday (August 12). Authorities said the attack took place in the Texas capital, Austin, on Monday. Police Chief Lisa Davis described the attacker as a 30-year-old man with a \u201chistory of mental illness.\u201d After the shooting, the man fled the scene in a stolen car, which he later crashed. He then stole another car from a nearby dealership but was later caught by police. Emergency responders found three victims, whose identities were not immediately known, upon arriving at the scene. Two were pronounced dead at the scene and the third was pronounced dead at the hospital. Meanwhile, Police Chief Davis said, \u201cThis is a very sad day for Austin. This is a very sad day for all of us. My condolences to the families of the victims.\u2019 In a post on X, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson called the attack a \u201cdevastating situation\u201d and expressed his condolences to the grieving family.
