Testimony against former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman and eight police officers in the case of crimes against humanity in the killing of six people, including student Anas, in Chankharpul in the capital during the July-August movement will begin today. Four accused have already been produced before the International Crimes Tribunal. On Sunday (August 10), the opening statement and testimony of the case was supposed to begin at the three-member Tribunal-1 headed by Justice Md. Golam Mortaza Majumder. However, the tribunal postponed it by a day. Earlier, four accused arrested in this case were presented before the tribunal yesterday. They are – dismissed inspector Arshad of Shahbagh Police Station and three constables Sujan, Imaz Hossain Emon and Nasirul. The other four accused, including the former DMP Commissioner, are still absconding. The four absconding accused in the case were ordered to appear before the tribunal by publishing a notice in the newspaper on June 3. The four accused are former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former Joint Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, former Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ramna region Shah Alam Md.
