A court in Faridpur has sentenced a district administration employee and mobile court worker in Shariatpur, along with his wife, to 28 years in prison and his wife to 8 years in prison in an ACC case. The order was given by Faridpur Special Judge Court Judge Matiar Rahman at around 11 am on Tuesday. The convicts are Md. Imam Uddin (45) and Kamala Akhter (38). At the same time, Imam Uddin was sentenced to seven months and 15 days in prison for failing to pay a fine of 89 lakh 94 thousand 24 taka and Kamala Akhter was sentenced to one and a half months in prison for failing to pay a fine of 20 thousand taka. The accused were present in the court when the verdict was announced. In this regard, ACC lawyer Mujibur Rahman said that while serving as a mobile court clerk from February 23, 2010 to May 26, 2015, Imam Uddin, with the help of his wife, office assistant Kamala Akhter, embezzled 89 lakh 94 thousand 24 taka received as court fines without depositing it in the government treasury. On June 18, 2015, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Shariatpur District Commissioner’s Office Jinia Jinnat filed a case with Palang Police Station on charges of embezzlement of government money.
