Thousands of people gathered at Australia’s famous Sydney Harbour Bridge to protest the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and to call for relief supplies. They were heard chanting slogans in favor of Palestine and expressing strong anger towards Israel. Sydney’s historic Harbour Bridge was packed to the brim on Sunday (August 3). More than a hundred thousand people took part in the march, avoiding natural obstacles. They raised their voices against the man-made famine in the valley. Some of the participants in the Sydney march called by the ‘March for Humanity’ organizers were carrying ‘pots and pans’ as symbols of hunger. They displayed placards in favor of Palestine and chanted slogans demanding the liberation of Palestine. The organizers claimed three lakh, but police say a little more than one lakh people took part in the march. Notable among them were WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, former Australian Foreign Minister and several senators. At one point, the bridge was shaken from one end to the other with the slogan ‘Palestine, Palestine’. Traffic on the bridge, which is more than a kilometer long, was stopped. A similar protest march was held in Melbourne at the same time. There was a large police presence there. It is worth noting that conscious world citizens also called for strict sanctions against Tel Aviv. They demanded recognition of Palestine as an independent state.
