BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed believes that no one will dare to do politics differently in the country by ignoring the blood and aspirations of the July martyrs. He made this comment after a meeting with the National Consensus Commission on Wednesday (July 30). Salahuddin Ahmed said, no political party seems to have the courage to deceive the nation. We agree with the proposal to pledge to implement the recommendations of the commission in parliament within 2 years. We think that no other political party will dare to do politics differently by ignoring the aspirations of July and the blood of the martyrs. Salahuddin Ahmed expressed optimism, saying, from the past experience of Bangladesh, we want no more fascism to emerge in the country. Two-term Prime Minister, independent Election Commission, these are BNP’s proposals. We have proposed that the caretaker government provision be put to a referendum. At this time, regarding women’s participation, he said, BNP will directly nominate women for 5 percent of the total seats in the upcoming elections. BNP’s proposal is that 50 reserved seats and 5 percent direct votes should be used to elect women representatives. We have demanded that it be increased to 100 seats in stages. How many proposals has BNP agreed to? When asked which of the various reform proposals BNP agreed to, he said, “Reform does not end here, it is an ongoing process.” Six commissions were formed before the National Consensus Commission. Among them, BNP agreed with 115 of the 131 proposals of the Constitution Reform Commission, 46 of the 47 proposals on the ACC, 187 of the 208 proposals on administrative reform and 11 dissented, 62 of the 89 proposals on judicial reform, 141 of the 242 proposals on the Election Commission, 141 agreed, 14 partially agreed and 64 dissented.
