40 Ansar members have been transferred for extorting money from truck drivers at the Benapole land port. They were transferred elsewhere on the orders of the Ansar higher authorities on Tuesday (July 29) afternoon. The Ansar commander of Benapole Port said that the decision was taken in the interest of maintaining internal discipline in the camp and protecting the image of the force. On July 28, a report was aired on Jamuna Television about the extortion incident in the name of Bakhshish while trucks were entering through various gates of the port. Later, when the truth of the allegations was found, punitive action was taken against the accused. Currently, 163 Ansar members and 129 members of the private security company ‘Pima’ are engaged in the security of import and export goods at the port and the inspection of truck gate passes.
