The sea has become rough due to the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal. In this situation, there is a risk of tidal surge of 1 to 3 feet in 15 districts of the country, including coastal districts. The Meteorological Department gave this information in a special notification on Saturday (July 26). In this situation, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display local warning signal number three. The Meteorological Office says that the low pressure is located in West Bengal and adjacent Jharkhand regions and it may move further west-northwestwards. Due to this, there is a risk of stormy winds at sea as the air pressure difference in the north Bay of Bengal has increased. The agency has also warned that due to the combined effect of the new moon and low pressure, there is a possibility of flooding in Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalakati, Pirojpur, Barisal, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Chandpur, Laxmipur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and surrounding islands and char areas due to wind-driven tidal waves of 1 to 3 feet. The Meteorological Department has also requested all fishing boats and trawlers to stay in safe shelters until further notice. Meanwhile, the low-lying areas of Noakhali Hatia have been flooded by intermittent rain and tidal water throughout the night. The rain has created waterlogging in low-lying areas of various upazilas, including the district headquarters. In Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, a two-and-a-half kilometer area of Marine Drive has been eroded by the waves of the turbulent sea. Water has entered through the broken dam and flooded the roads around the Aniser Dale, Tablor Char, and the wind power plant in Kutabdia. Water has also entered the lower areas of Dhalghata and Matarbari in Maheshkhali.
