Ganaodhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has said that fair elections are not possible if the interim government’s biased behavior towards the National Citizen Party (NCP) continues. He made these comments at a press briefing after a meeting with the chief advisor at the state guest house Jamuna on Wednesday (July 23) afternoon. Nur said, “The government is being biased towards the NCP. All political parties have strongly protested the government’s biased behavior. If such behavior continues towards the NCP, fair elections are not possible for the government.” The Ganaodhikar Parishad President also fears that the defunct Awami League may take advantage of any movement formed on any issue to create chaos. Meanwhile, calling for the release of the full list of those killed in the Milestone tragedy, Janayed Saki, coordinator of the Mass Solidarity Movement, said, “The responsibility for judicial reform and elections lies with the government. A specific date for the elections needs to be announced immediately.” Then people will feel relieved. Calling on the government to prove its impartiality, he further said, “We need to create a level playing field for elections. We need to treat all political parties equally.” Complaining that the government’s various behaviors are occasionally clouding the political sky of Bangladesh, Saki said, “There is also a haze over timely elections and reforms.
