The Meteorological Department has asked the four seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to display local warning signal number 3. In a warning issued today (July 9), the Meteorological Office said that the low pressure area located in Gangetic West Bengal and adjacent areas is located in the same area. Due to this, gusty or stormy winds are blowing over the North Bay of Bengal, coastal areas and sea ports of Bangladesh due to the prevailing air pressure difference. In this situation, the warning signal issued for seaports since yesterday Tuesday has been asked to continue today. Due to the adverse weather, the Meteorological Department has also asked the river ports of the southern region to display local warning signal number 1 from 9 am to 6 pm today. A warning issued this morning said that temporary gusty or squally winds with a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour with rain or thunderstorms are likely to blow from the south or southeast over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar regions. In a heavy rainfall warning, the Meteorological Office said that due to the activity of the southwest monsoon, heavy (44 to 88 millimeters in 24 hours) to very heavy (188 millimeters in 24 hours) rainfall is likely to occur at some places in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Barisal divisions from 10 am today in the next 24 hours. Due to this very heavy rainfall, there is also a risk of landslides in some places in the hilly areas of Chittagong division. Along with this, temporary waterlogging may occur at some places in Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna metropolis due to heavy rainfall.
