Mostafa Kamal Palash, a meteorologist and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, has warned of a strong threat of floods in various districts of the country due to ongoing rainfall due to low pressure. He expressed this concern in a post on Facebook on Tuesday (July 8) afternoon. In the post, meteorologist Palash said that the ongoing rainfall may continue throughout the day, night and until Wednesday afternoon in most districts of Chittagong division and Tripura state of India. During this time, there is a strong threat of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Noakhali, Feni, Comilla, Lakshmipur, Chittagong and Khagrachhari districts of Chittagong division and all districts of Tripura state of India. He also said that based on the analysis of data received from the Agartala radar of the Indian Meteorological Department in Tripura state, 150 to 250 millimeters of rain may fall in the next 24 hours. Meteorologist Palash also said that there is a strong fear of worsening flood conditions in Feni district and southern upazilas of Comilla district, which have already been flooded due to heavy rains since Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, Somoy TV’s Noakhali correspondent said that due to the heavy rains and adverse weather, class activities have been announced to be closed in secondary educational institutions in four upazilas of the district on July 9 and 10 (Wednesday and Thursday). At the same time, the ongoing half-yearly and internal examinations have also been postponed.
