General lawyers held a protest march at the Supreme Court premises, declaring the proposal of the Reform Commission to transfer the permanent bench of the High Court outside Dhaka illegal. They held this program on Monday (July 07) afternoon. At the time, the general lawyers said that although the Supreme Court had instructed not to transfer the High Court outside Dhaka, the Reform Commission has disobeyed it and given such a proposal, which is tantamount to contempt of court. At the time, the lawyers also said that if the High Court bench is transferred to the divisional level, justice will be distorted, political influence will increase. This will weaken the judiciary. In addition, there is a crisis of talented lawyers outside Dhaka. They commented that this will have a far-reaching impact on the judiciary. Meanwhile, political parties have agreed in principle with the proposal of the National Consensus Commission on the expansion of subordinate courts at the upazila level in stages. In continuation of the dialogue on the reform issue, the National Consensus Commission held discussions with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital. During the discussion, Jamaat representative Hamidur Rahman Azad proposed setting up courts in every upazila. However, BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said, not in all upazilas in a blanket manner.
