Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has announced that they will take to the streets of Dhaka again from August 3 if the ‘July Charter’ is not included in the new constitution. He made this announcement while addressing the fourth day of the ‘July Padayatra’ program at Dinajpur Institute Ground at 6 pm on Friday (July 4). Nahid Islam said, ‘We see that there is a pretext being made regarding the July Charter. It is being said that the July Declaration will not have any constitutional recognition. The July Charter must be added to the constitution. The dignity and security of those who participated in the July uprising, who were injured and martyred, must be mentioned in the new constitution of the new Bangladesh. InshaAllah, the National Citizen Party will gather at the Central Shaheed Minar premises on August 3 and the July Declaration will be obtained from the interim government.\u2019 He said, \u2018It is going to be one year since the July Uprising. We had hoped that the country would change in this one year. But that dream has not yet been fulfilled. Even after the fall of the fascist government, it has not been possible to build a new Bangladesh. We see that the previous authoritarian structure is still in place. Looters and corrupt people are being protected.\u2019 He also said, \u2018The students and people of Bangladesh took to the streets for a new structure, a new state, a new country. We did not protest just to remove one party and install another. We took to the field to complete the unfinished work of the mass uprising. Our goal is to abolish the fascist structure and build a democratic and discrimination-free Bangladesh.\u2019 Nahid Islam said to the people of Dinajpur, \u2018The people of this district are witnesses to history. From the Blue Rebellion to the 2024 mass uprising, the people of Dinajpur have fought against injustice. The people of this place also took up arms against the Pakistani invaders in 1971.\u2019 He also said, \u2018The farmers of Dinajpur, a rice-rice district, do not get fair price. The rice produced here is sent to various districts including the capital. We do not want this inequality that Dinajpur will produce and Dhaka will consume. Regional inequality must be put aside forever.\u2019 Before delivering his speech at the road meeting, NCP convener Nahid Islam walked about a kilometer from Dinajpur Boromath to Institute Ground to hold a mass meeting.
