BNP has expressed concerns over the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)’s proposed ‘Telecom Network and Licensing Reform Policy 2025’. The party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed this concern at a press conference on Thursday (July 3) afternoon. A meeting will be held today on ‘Telecom Network and Licensing Reform Policy-2025’. Important decisions are expected to be made on the policy at the meeting.<\/p>\n
BNP has called an emergency press conference at the party chairperson’s office in the capital’s Gulshan regarding this. At the press conference, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, ‘It would not be right to formulate such a policy unilaterally.’ Stating that there is no clear explanation about the new technology, he said, ‘Small companies will not be able to compete with big telecom companies. Big companies can take advantage of the lack of clear explanations in the policy.<\/p>\n
Mirza Fakhrul also commented that it would not be right to formulate the policy in a hurry before the national elections. At the press conference, BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Moin Khan complained, “The government did not exchange views with the people or political parties before formulating such a policy.” On the same day, party Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi participated in a voluntary blood donation program in Rangpur to commemorate the July Uprising. At that time, he said, “If the country votes on a proportional basis, it will be pushed further towards dictatorship. BNP wants democratic votes.
