The interim government has declared August 5 every year as ‘July Mass Uprising Day’. There will be a general holiday on this day. In addition, the government has declared July 16, the day when student Abu Sayeed was killed in police firing in Rangpur during the mass movement, as ‘July Martyrs’ Day. A notification and circular were issued by the Cabinet Division in this regard on Wednesday (July 2).<\/p>\n
The notification and circular said that the government has declared August 5 every year as ‘July Mass Uprising Day’ (including general holiday) and has decided to include it as a ‘A’ category day in the circular issued by the Cabinet Division on October 21, 2024 regarding the observance of national and international days to observe that date as ‘July Mass Uprising Day’.<\/p>\n
The circular declaring ‘July Martyrs’ Day’ states that the government has declared July 16 every year as ‘July Martyrs’ Day’ and has decided to include it as a ‘B’ category day in the Cabinet Division’s circular dated October 21, 2024 regarding the observance of national and international days to observe that date as ‘July Martyrs’ Day’.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Cabinet Division issued two circulars on June 25. In these, August 8 was declared the new Bangladesh Day.
