The US has \u2018imposed war\u2019 on Iran under a fabricated and unreasonable pretext, Iran\u2019s UN representative Amir Saeed Iravani said.<\/p>\n
At an emergency meeting of the Security Council called by Iran at the UN headquarters on Sunday (June 22), he said that Iran has the right to defend itself against \u2018blatant aggression\u2019 by the US.<\/p>\n
The Iranian representative also commented that the US has engaged in an \u2018unnecessary and costly\u2019 war due to pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n
He said that the country\u2019s armed forces will decide \u2018when, how and to what extent the appropriate response will be given\u2019 from Iran.<\/p>\n
Iravani blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that Netanyahu has dragged the US into \u2018another costly and baseless war\u2019. He said that the actions of the US and Israel are a \u2018clear violation\u2019 of international law.<\/p>\n
Iravani also said that Israel has spread a \u201cfalse and deceptive story\u201d that Iran is \u201con the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said that the silence, duplicity and cooperation of international organizations and some Western countries such as France and the UK are equally reprehensible.<\/p>\n
He called on the UN Security Council to hold the US and Israel fully accountable.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, representatives of China and Russia issued statements condemning the US attack at this Security Council meeting.<\/p>\n
The Russian representative criticized the US attack as irresponsible. The Chinese representative said that the US attack is a clear violation of international law.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump has once again opened his mouth about the current regime in Iran. In a post on his Truth social account, he raised the question \u2013 if Iran cannot be \u201cgreat again\u201d, then why not change that regime?<\/p>\n
