Sukanta Chatterjee, Kolkata Correspondent: Indian truck owners and drivers held a protest rally in Siliguri, West Bengal.<\/p>\n
On Monday (June 16), they were seen protesting at the Phulbari border in the district along with holding a sit-in program. At one point, police were deployed.<\/p>\n
About 2,000 Bhutanese trucks bound for Bangladesh were stuck in this. The protesters alleged that Bhutanese trucks transport stones from India to Bangladesh, while Indian trucks are deprived of this opportunity. This is causing them economic harm.<\/p>\n
In this regard, a five-member delegation met Siliguri Municipal Mayor Gautam Deb and conveyed their grievances.<\/p>\n
Later, Sukanta Kar, president of the local committee of the National Workers Union, said that the mayor had assured them and said that he would try to resolve the issue soon.<\/p>\n
