A few days of continuous rain across the country and the hilly terrain coming down from upstream India have flooded vast areas in various places. Residents of coastal areas are in trouble as water rises in houses and roads. Water levels are rising in four districts of Sylhet division, three hill districts, Netrokona, Brahmanbaria and Lalmonirhat. Among the three flood-prone rivers, Surma, Kushiyara in Sylhet and Manu River in Moulvibazar are flowing above the danger level. As a result, low-lying areas in the region have been flooded with forest water.<\/p>\n
The water levels in these rivers may rise further on Tuesday (June 3). And the flood situation may deteriorate in the lower reaches of the three districts on Wednesday (June 4). This information was given in the forecast given by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center of the Water Development Board on Monday (June 2).<\/p>\n
The forecast says that the water levels of Surma, Kushiyara rivers in Sylhet district and Manu river in Moulvibazar district are flowing above the danger level. The water levels of Surma, Kushiyara rivers, Manu and Khowai rivers in Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions may increase in the next 48 hours and may flow above the danger level. In addition, the water levels of Sari, Gowain, Jadukata, Dhalai and Someshwari may cross the danger level. During this time, the flood situation may deteriorate in the lower reaches of Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts and there is a risk of flood situation in the low-lying areas of Sunamganj and Netrokona districts.<\/p>\n
It says that the water levels of rivers like Muhuri, Feni, Halda, Sangu, Matamuhuri etc. in Chittagong division may increase in the next 24 hours, may remain stable on the second day and may decrease on the next day. During this time, Muhuri, Feni, Halda may flow within the warning level.<\/p>\n
The forecast also says that the water level of the Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers is increasing, but is flowing below the danger level. The water level of the rivers may increase in the next 4 days; but may flow below the danger level. The water level of the rivers may decrease in the next day.<\/p>\n
It says that the water level of the Ganga River is stable and the water level of the Padma River is decreasing. The water level of the Ganga River may remain stable for the next 5 days and the water level of the Padma River may increase; but the water level of the rivers may flow below the danger level.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, due to very heavy rainfall, landslides are feared in some places in the hilly areas of Sylhet, Chittagong, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar.<\/p>\n
Two days of rain have caused landslides in various places in Rangamati. Traffic is being disrupted due to landslides in several places in the Manikchhari Ghagra area of \u200b\u200bthe Rangamati-Chittagong road. The Roads Department and Fire Service are working to keep the road operational. However, no casualties were reported anywhere.<\/p>\n
The administration has opened 12 shelters for people trapped in water in Manikchhari of Khagrachari. Mics have been used in the upazila headquarters to urge people to move out of risky settlements at the foot of the hill. Several tourist centers in Lama, Bandarban have been temporarily closed due to the fear of landslides due to heavy rains. Heavy rains in Lalmonirhat and the upstream hill slopes have increased the flow of the Teesta River.
