The low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal has turned into a depression. Although the depression is likely to intensify, there is no danger of a cyclone. However, there is a danger of very heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n
On Thursday (May 29) morning, Meteorological Department meteorologist Dr. Md. Bazlur Rashid informed Soimoy Sangbad about this information.<\/p>\n
He said that there is no danger of a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. However, due to the effect of the low pressure created, intermittent rain is falling across the country, including the coastal areas.<\/p>\n
Stating that the sky conditions will normalize from Saturday, the meteorologist said that there is a danger of heavy to very heavy rainfall in different parts of the country tomorrow (May 30).<\/p>\n
Stating that 91 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in the last 24 hours, he said, “There is a danger of landslides in the hilly areas due to heavy rainfall. Along with this, stormy winds may blow over the sea ports.”<\/p>\n
In this situation, the Meteorological Office has asked the country’s four sea ports to display warning signal number 3 and the naval ports to display warning signal number 2. Along with this, all types of fishing boats and trawlers in the Bay of Bengal have been asked to immediately go to safe shelter and remain in safe shelter until further orders.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the special weather bulletin said that the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal was located 405 km from Chittagong Seaport, 395 km from Cox’s Bazar Seaport, 230 km from Mongla Seaport and 245 km southwest of Payra Seaport at 6 am today. It may move northwards and intensify further. Due to this, gale force winds may blow over the north Bay of Bengal, coastal areas of Bangladesh and seaports.<\/p>\n
The maximum continuous wind speed within 44 km of the low pressure center is 40 km per hour, which is increasing up to 50 km in the form of gusts or squalls. The sea is rough in the area near the low pressure center.
