A young man named Md. Shakil Akon died in front of his mother in Mathbaria, Pirojpur. The incident took place at around 11 am on Wednesday (May 21) in Bhechki village of Tikikata union of the upazila, said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mathbaria police station.<\/p>\n
The deceased Shakil Akon (17) is the son of Md. Yusu Akon of Bhechki village of Tikikata union of the upazila.<\/p>\n
According to police and local sources, Shakil Akon went to fetch a cow tied to the land north of his homestead around 11 am after seeing the cloudy sky in the morning. At that time, Shakil Akon’s mother Sharmin Akhter was picking mung beans in that land. When Shakil set out to fetch the cow, he was suddenly struck by lightning in the field in front of his mother.<\/p>\n
Later, locals recovered the body and took it to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared him dead.<\/p>\n
