The Trump administration has imposed visa bans on several Indian travel agents accused of facilitating illegal immigration to the United States. The move is part of a broader effort to crack down on irregular immigration and human trafficking. The British news agency Reuters reported this information in a report on Tuesday (May 20).<\/p>\n
The report said that the visa ban applies to Indian travel agents and others who are accused of creating false documents or helping people enter the United States illegally.<\/p>\n
The US government claims that these agents have abused the legal immigration process through sham marriages, bogus job schemes or other illegal means.<\/p>\n
The move is in line with the US’s tough policy against ‘birth tourism’ (travel for childbirth) and human trafficking networks.<\/p>\n
The banned individuals will become ineligible for US visas and may face further legal action.<\/p>\n
On Monday, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said in a statement that the US Embassy in India is subject to visa restrictions on unidentified individuals under the Immigration and Nationality Act based on information collected.
