Both hands are almost useless. Her fingers are short, and she does not have the ability to move her hands. But Razia Khatun did not give up. She has passed SSC, HSC, and Graduation one by one with a pen on her toes. She has also taken the Masters exam.<\/p>\n
Recently, Razia was sitting at a table next to the Bar Association in Thakurgaon city, writing a job application with a pen on her feet. A job is her only wish now. Razia’s home is in Mistripara village of Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon district. Father Faizul Haque is a day laborer, mother Rahima Begum is a housewife. Razia, the youngest of five siblings, has been physically disabled since birth. Both hands are almost useless, but she did not let poverty and physical disabilities defeat her. She continued her studies by writing with her feet.<\/p>\n
None of the four brothers could pass the primary school, but Razia alone passed her graduation in history from Thakurgaon Government College. In 2021, she took the master’s exam, but failed in one subject. In 2023, Razia married Abu Sufian, a daily wage laborer from the same area. The family had a daughter. She is now three years old. Although the family was poor, a house was built on love. But a few months ago, there was a sudden change in the rhythm and Sufian was injured in an accident while working. Now he can no longer work as hard as before.<\/p>\n
In this situation, Razia took a job application to the District Administrator. She said, ‘I can’t do anything with my hands, but I can do everything with my mind. I just want a job so that the family can survive.<\/p>\n
Although the District Administrator assured her of arranging a van or a shop for her husband, Razia wants a job according to her qualifications. She said, ‘I gave interviews to a few companies. The written test was good. But when they went face to face and saw my physical condition, they didn’t call me anymore. I feel very insulted. I just want a chance to prove that I can do it too.’ Husband Abu Sufian said, ‘Razia is not only my wife, she is my inspiration. She cooks on her feet, manages the house, and looks after her children. I request the government to provide a job for Razia.’ Former professor of Thakurgaon Government College, Monotosh Kumar Dey, said, ‘Razia is an exceptional example. The courage and perseverance with which she completed her higher education on her feet is rare in society.
