Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that elections may be held in December this year, but not after June 2026. He will not participate in the elections. He said this in a report published in The Economist on Thursday (May 15).<\/p>\n
The chief advisor said that the interim government has been able to keep inflation and the banking sector stable. However, economic growth is still weak. At the same time, the political situation is also fragile. Stating that the political situation is also fragile, Dr. Yunus said that it has become difficult to bring about major changes even after 9 months of the revolution.<\/p>\n
He also said that the consensus commission will formulate the ‘July Charter’ together with the political parties, which will pave the way for holding elections and help in the formation of a ‘new Bangladesh’.
