Dismissed members of the armed forces are protesting for four demands. As part of this, they held a meeting with army officers at the National Press Club on Sunday afternoon. However, since the meeting was not fruitful, they blocked the officers’ cars and lay down in front of the vehicles.<\/p>\n
This incident took place inside the National Press Club today (May 18) at around 4:15 pm.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the protesters held a meeting with senior army officials from 2 pm.<\/p>\n
1. The job should be reinstated with full salary, allowances and other benefits from the time of dismissal.<\/p>\n
2. If it is not possible to reinstate a member’s job, then he should be included in the full pension with all government benefits.<\/p>\n
3. The legal framework and unilateral judicial system under which hundreds of armed forces members have been dismissed must be reformed, as well as Article 45 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n
4. The dismissed soldier Naimul Islam, the chief coordinator of the army who was arrested yesterday, must be released.<\/p>\n
A dismissed soldier Md. Ripon Hossain said in the sit-in program, about 600 people have been dismissed from the three forces. Many have been sent to compulsory pension. They have been dismissed by court martial. We do not accept unfair dismissal.<\/p>\n
Former navy sailor M Bahauddin said, we have given 45 minutes. If no one from the cantonment comes to discuss our demands within 45 minutes, then we will start a long march towards Jahangir Gate.
