National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Dr. Ali Riaz has expressed his hope that the political parties will be able to move forward on areas where consensus is not being reached.<\/p>\n
He said this on Sunday (May 18) morning, ahead of the start of talks with Jamaat-e-Islami at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building.<\/p>\n
Ali Riaz said, \u201cWe have had and are having discussions with the political parties on many issues and have reached consensus on many issues. On the other hand, there are disagreements on some issues. In some cases, Jamaat-e-Islami has asked the policymakers to reconsider some issues and there is an opportunity for re-discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThose who represent them in any kind of political discussion have to go back to their policymakers in various ways. Because, many things come up on the discussion table that demand reconsideration. That is what we are continuing to do,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The vice-chairman of the commission said, “We want to move towards a national charter. If we can complete the initial stage discussions in the next couple of days, we will start the second stage discussions. We will also be able to move forward on all the areas where there are differences of opinion, disagreements or consensus is not being formed.” Stating that this is not the sole responsibility of the National Consensus Commission, he said, “The responsibility of establishing national consensus is actually that of political parties, civil society and other political and social forces. I believe that with everyone’s efforts, it will undoubtedly be successful.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
