BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moin Khan has said that the Farakka Dam is a death trap for the people of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
He was speaking at a public meeting organized by the International Farakka Committee (IFC) at the Central Shaheed Minar on Friday (May 16) afternoon to mark the ‘Farakka Long March Day’.<\/p>\n
Moin Khan said, ‘The problem that Maulana Bhashani protested against fifty-nine years ago, today, fifty-nine years later, we have to protest again in independent Bangladesh.’<\/p>\n
He said that the Farakka Dam has now become a question of life and death for the people of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
The BNP Standing Committee member said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman had raised this problem at the United Nations.<\/p>\n
