The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has termed the news published in the Indian media about a coup and a breakdown in the chain of command in the Bangladesh Army as baseless.<\/p>\n
The public relations wing of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, ISPR, protested on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The protest letter said that the Bangladesh Army has noted with deep concern the recent baseless and fabricated reports published in some Indian media outlets, including The Economic Times and The India Today. All those reports have mentioned the possibility of a coup and a breakdown in the chain of command within the army. These reports are completely false and appear to be part of a planned propaganda to tarnish the reputation and stability of Bangladesh and its armed forces.<\/p>\n
It also said, \u2018We clearly state that under the able leadership of the Army Chief, the Bangladesh Army is strong, united and fully committed to fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities. Our chain of command is strong and all members of the Bangladesh Army, including senior generals, remain steadfast in their loyalty to the constitution, the chain of command and the people of Bangladesh. Any allegation of disunity or disloyalty within the army is completely fabricated and malicious.\u2019<\/p>\n
The ISPR said it is of particular concern that The Economic Times has repeatedly indulged in such propaganda. Just a month before this latest report, a similar false report was published in this media outlet on January 26, 2025. This unprofessional behavior raises serious questions about the motives and credibility of these media outlets.<\/p>\n
In addition, several online portals and some unsung television channels have propagated these lies, which has intensified the propaganda. It seems that instead of adhering to the principles of responsible journalism, they are acting as a tool to spread false information and create distrust between the Bangladesh Army and the people of Bangladesh.\u2019<\/p>\n
The rejoinder further said, \u2018We urge these media outlets, especially the Indian-based media outlets, to practice good journalism and not publish unverified and sensational news. It is hoped that they will seek comments and clarifications from the ISPR before publishing such reports. The ISPR is always ready to provide accurate and official information about the Bangladesh Army.\u2019<\/p>\n
The ISPR said, \u2018The Bangladesh Army remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the sovereignty, integrity and security of the country. We request all media outlets to behave responsibly and refrain from spreading false narratives. Such false information only creates unnecessary tension and confusion.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
